High School Teaching Experience

I appreciate the years I spent teaching high school in Granville County, North Carolina.  The time I spent there brought incredible opportunities to work closely with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and community members.  This rural school district presented benefits and challenges that pushed me to grow as an instructor.

Integrated the 1:1 laptop initiative (The Golden Leaf Foundation) into classroom instruction.  Chaired committee to introduce the Carnegie Learning Program as part of student skill building.
  Oversaw after school and weekend tutoring programs.  Served as supervisor for student Relay For Life club.

Instituted a one-day internship program exposing Juniors
 and Seniors to the practical applications of math in various careers.  Worked with Freshman Academy students to build the study skills necessary to promote high school success.  Mentored students relocated after Hurricane Katrina.  Worked with community members to implement a Saturday learning program that provided college tutors for students while parents attended a forum on educational public policy.
